What is a WHISPERshout Workshop?

In a WHISPERshout writing workshop, young readers and writers work in a small group of just 6 to 10 kids with veteran classroom teacher, published poet, and early years literacy specialist Heidi Mordhorst. 

Each program has a planned outline, but each week Heidi considers the needs and interests of the children in the group and adjusts the content to match.  Each child receives weekly individual support at their level of reading and writing development, while simultaneously participating in a socially and emotionally rich group literacy experience.

Class length is 75 minutes to allow time for the expert attention required by this creative/academic work. At the last class of each session, children present their work to an audience and take home a published product they can share with their families.
